How to make a virtual audio cable setup with per-application routing to create multiple virtual microphones with clear sound.

🔧 Setting Up VoiceMeeter Banana for Virtual Microphones

This will allow you to route different app sounds into separate virtual microphones with the best quality.

🎯 Step 1: Open VoiceMeeter Banana & Select Hardware Output

  1. Open VoiceMeeter Banana.
  2. Under Hardware Out (Top Right Corner):
    • Click A1 and select your real speakers/headphones.
    • If you want a second output, click A2 and select another device.

🎯 Step 2: Set Up Virtual Inputs

  1. Under Hardware Input (Left Side):

    • Hardware Input 1 → Select "CABLE Output" (First virtual mic).
    • Hardware Input 2 → Select "CABLE B Output" (Second virtual mic).
    • (If you installed more virtual cables, use them for more inputs.)
  2. Under Virtual Inputs (Middle Section):

    • You will see Voicemeeter VAIO & AUX – leave them as they are.

🎯 Step 3: Route Sounds from Different Apps

  1. Open Windows Settings (Win + I) → System → Sound → App volume and device preferences.
  2. Change the Output Device for different apps:
    • Windows Media Player → CABLE Input
    • Spotify → CABLE B Input
    • Instagram (Browser) → CABLE C Input

Now, each app’s sound is routed into different virtual cables.

🎯 Step 4: Send Audio to Virtual Microphones

In VoiceMeeter Banana, for each input:

  1. Under "A" and "B" buttons, configure routing:
    • If you want CABLE Output (Windows Media Player) to act as a microphone, turn ON "B1".
    • If you want CABLE B Output (Spotify) to act as a microphone, turn ON "B2".
    • If you want CABLE C Output (Instagram) to act as a microphone, turn ON "B1" or "B2", depending on where you want it.

What does B1/B2 mean?

  • B1 = "VoiceMeeter Output" (Virtual Mic 1)
  • B2 = "VoiceMeeter AUX Output" (Virtual Mic 2)

🎯 Step 5: Use the Virtual Microphones in Apps

  1. Open Discord, Zoom, OBS, or any app where you want to use the virtual microphones.
  2. In the app’s Microphone/Input Device Settings, select:
    • For Windows Media Player Sound → "VoiceMeeter Output" (B1).
    • For Spotify Sound → "VoiceMeeter AUX Output" (B2).
    • For Instagram Sound → "CABLE C Output" (if used separately).

✅ Summary

  • Use VoiceMeeter Banana to manage sound routing.
  • Assign different apps to different virtual cables using Windows Sound Settings.
  • Enable B1/B2 in VoiceMeeter to send them as virtual microphones.
  • Select the correct virtual microphone in Discord, Zoom, or any app.
